Got the "Zero-Budget Blues"?
Join the club! According to a recent survey of 120 learning and
development managers, 44% of them expected cuts of some kind, 54%
expected budgets to remain stable and just 2% expected an increase.
Perhaps more significantly, when respondents were asked to predict which
areas of spending would likely be cut, 53% said non-skill specific
training 33% said soft skills, 32% said team building, and 13% diversity.
What does this mean for managers and team leaders like you? It means
that, at least for the time being, you may have to take onto your own
shoulders a far larger share of the team-development tasks - and with
less and less budget. You're going to need as much information (and
inspiration) as possible.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Can your organization afford a drop in morale during these difficult times?
- How much productivity might your group lose if you fail to manage workplace stress?
- By foregoing team-building efforts, are you willing to risk rising absenteeism and higher employee turnover?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, it may be time to start
educating yourself about the latest trends in team building. Read the
E-book "Solving the Puzzles of Teamwork"and learn for yourself how to
re-energize your teams (on little or zero budget).
