Originally an island in San Francisco Bay with a marsh connecting it to the mainland, Coyote Point was owned by the Howard Family until 1942. Home to a pier for lumber loading, a dairy pasture, a bathhouse and pool, the area was transformed in 1922 into the glittering “Pacific City Amusement Park”, which included a boardwalk, children’s playground, scenic railway, merry-go-round, Ferris wheel, dancing pavilion and several food concessions. Sadly, a fire during the second season destroyed about one quarter of the development, and it never opened for a third season. Today, Coyote Point hosts a golf course, a marina, a variety of playgrounds, and the state-of-the-art Museum for Environmental Education. During your adventure at Coyote Point, expect to encounter a giant statue of sea animals; a memorial to the military university that once stood here; a sign about the marine life clues, and much, much more. Don’t miss our latest treasure hunt on the mid-Peninsula!
