One of the things I love about my business is that our scavenger hunts and team building exercises provide as much benefit to kids as to adults. It was my delight, then, to be approached recently by Winifred MacLeod, Publisher of Fast Forward magazine, to see if I’d do a hunt for her group of award-winnering student journalists. Fast Forward is a Bay Area-based program that allows junior and senior high school kids a chance to conduct cool interviews and produce a magazine by themselves, “For Kids, By Kids, About Kids.” These are bright, motivated young journalists … I just had to accept, if only to see how they’d do with our treasure hunt clues!
As expected, they all did pretty darn well on their Fisherman’s Wharf Treasure Hunt … although I did feel a little sorry for the adult chaperones who had to try and keep up with the kids (who had a tendency to run to each clue location). Young people have extremely flexible minds. I enjoyed watching them on excel on the hunt as well as taking them through a few of our corporate team building activities, in an effort to generate some team building ideas to take back to their magazine.
