A great place to hold a team building scavenger hunt in Portland

Event Description
: Boasting a thriving downtown area with fine shopping, great restaurants, famous chefs and one of the world’s great bookstores, Portland is a fantastic, safe place to do a corporate teambuilding event.

Location History: In 1843, Tennessee drifter William Overton and Massachusetts lawyer Asa Lovejoy beached their canoe on the banks of the Willamette River. Lacking the 25 cents needed to file a land claim, Overton struck a bargain with Lovejoy: In return for a quarter, Overton would share his claim to the 640-acre site known as “The Clearing.” Soon bored with clearing trees and building roads, Overton drifted on, selling his half of the claim to Francis W. Pettygrove. The new partners, Lovejoy and Pettygrove, however, couldn’t decide on a name for their budding township. Lovejoy was determined to name the site after his hometown of Boston, while Pettygrove was equally adamant about his native Portland, Maine. They decided to flip a coin, now known as the “Portland Penny,” to settle the argument. Pettygrove won on two tosses out of three.

During your corporate teambuilding treasure hunt… expect to encounter a giant eyeball; a smokestack; an antique metal safe; the Green Man of Portland, and much, much more.

Here’s Dr. Clue himself, Dave Blum, sharing his thoughts about this teambuilding scavenger hunt:

Not every corporate team building program is the same.  Depending on your group, your focus may be integrating new people into the team and breaking down personal boundaries and divisions.    Or you may have an existing department where teams could, with a little practice, cooperate and communicate more smoothly across teams and divisions.  Or you might simply have a group that thrives on the use of technology.    Let Dr. Clue customize your hunt program by selecting the content focus that best matches your group and your needs.
