One of the things I like most about my job is creating new team building activities –especially when it involves collaboration. For Dr. Clue’s Team Efficiency Workshop, I worked very closely with my two facilitators extraordinaire, Franco Beneduce and Christine McHugh. Christine and I were tasked with sifting through the various team building ideas out there and locating suitable activities for the workshop, and Franco’s job was to be the “overseer”, making sure the chosen team building exercises followed the path of the overall “big picture”. The process went back and forth, choosing one game, trying it out, rejecting it for one reason or another, and choosing another, until we found what we wanted.
In the end we were very happy with what we came up with: a workshop all about efficiency that showcases three enjoyable, high-impact games and simulations:
1) A clue-solving activity employing our signature treasure hunt clues.
2) A simulation called “Surviving on the Moon” that requires participants to reach consensus under time pressure.
3) A high-energy game called “Break the Safe” that asks teams to create and re-engineer process, and to make team decisions against a strict deadline.
We think the Team Efficiency workshop is a winner…and you can play it at your work or meeting place. Check it out.
