With more than 8 million visitors each year, Chicago’s Navy Pier is a happening place to say the least. During WWI, it housed several regiments of soldiers; during WWII, this was the place for pilot training orientation. After the war, Navy Pier served as a branch campus for the University of Illinois. Today, well, what isn’t Navy Pier? Part theater district, part Fisherman’s Wharf – Navy Pier is the Midwest’s #1 tourist destination, hosting everything from a giant carousel to a Shakespeare theater to a stained glass window museum. During your treasure hunt journey at Navy Pier, you may encounter: a monument to Chicago’s favorite sports announcer; a brass bell from an old war ship; a wall-sized picture of a man and his goat; a statue of one of the bard’s most famous heroines, and much more.
